Announcing Medallion
Transport & Logistics, LLC,
"The Gold Standard
in Safety and Service"
(Mooresville, NC) Two specialists with
over 40 years of combined experience in growing non-asset based
transportation companies have reunited to direct a new entrant
to the transportation marketplace. Medallion Transport &
Logistics, LLC of Mooresville, North Carolina (a Charlotte suburb),
is being founded by Gary Weilheimer to provide customers, agents,
and owner-operators the finest in service and support. Transport
Financial Services, LLC is being founded by Tom Tranovich to
provide strategic and financial support to the industry, starting
with Medallion.
The former owner of American Trans-Freight, LLC (ATF) and American
Crest Capital, LLC, Thomas S. Tranovich took a small family-owned
agent/owner-operator based company with $10 million dollars in
sales and turned it into a $135 million powerhouse before selling
it to a private equity firm in 2004. Gary Weilheimer joined the
firm in 1998, and was instrumental in all aspects of this fast
growing company and a key to its success until his departure
in 2007.
In a time of dynamic change when many old line and highly leveraged
companies are struggling, Tom and Gary decided to bring back
the values and strengths of their old companies, with a 21st
century flair. Mr. Tranovich said: "We want to recreate
the professional, high quality service to our agents, owner-operators,
and customers that we once had at ATF, Cheetah Transportation,
and Dallas Mavis."
Medallion Transport and Logistics, LLC will be a non-asset based
agent/owner-operator motor carrier offering truckload and brokerage
services throughout North America. Medallion plans to build a
superior network of experienced transport sales agents. Mr. Weilheimer
explained, "We are not looking for any agent or opportunity
that comes along. We are looking to provide a long-term home
for the best partners to join our team. We will not have to answer
to Wall Street; we will answer to our customers' needs and provide
superior safety and service. Hence our tagline, 'The gold standard
in safety and service."
Thomas Tranovich and Gary Weilheimer worked together from 1998
to 2005. In 1991, Thomas Tranovich assumed leadership of his
father's "bricks and mortar" company, American Trans-Freight,
with $10 million in yearly sales. Gary Weilheimer joined in 1998,
and together the two built the firm into a non-asset-based company
operating through independent sales agents and generating over
$135 million in annual sales. After the company was sold in 2004
to Greatwide Logistics, Tom stayed on to transition the company
to the new owners and then resigned from the firm in 2005. Gary
remained with Greatwide for two years, helping build the truckload
management division into North America's third-largest non-asset
based motor carrier with over $350 million in yearly sales. Gary
left Greatwide in 2007 after the current owners bought the company.
Medallion will be managed by Gary, while Tom will provide strategic
and financial support through Transport Financial Services, LLC.
Although each will run their separate companies, the two will
focus on one goal: providing superior service and financial stability.
"We plan to fill the need in the marketplace for a top quality
transportation company that is financially secure, and one where
you will know the owners on a first name basis," said Tranovich.
If history is any indicator of future performance, this company
will deliver on all of its promises.
